The Gears of War movie is tentatively set for release in 2010.
Wyck Godfrey of Temple Hill Entertainment, producer for the upcoming
Gears of War movie, has indicated that the film could be released as early as 2010.
Speaking to
Comingsoon.net, Godfrey said that a director is almost attached to the project and that the script is being finalised. Although the rights to the film are owned by New Line Cinema, Temple Hill Entertainment will be producing the movie adaptation of Epic's monster hit.
"
We've got our script and a director we're about to attach," Godfrey said. "
We'll hopefully make that early next year for the summer of 2010."
The script for the film is being penned by Stuart Beattie, who also wrote films such as
Collateral and the first
Pirates of the Carribean film.
Epic has stayed close to the project all the way through, with Cliff Bleszinkski helping to produce the title and having constant input. Epic has also hinted that the film will be shot entirely on green screen, with computer generated effects added in like in Zack Snyder's
300.

Lol excellent word use! I've often thought that way about the recent UT characters too.
Let's see a game-to-movie version of "Below the Root" - if they can do that then there's still hope...
