The Xbox 360 is now seeing price cuts across all models, effective this Friday.

Microsoft has now officially confirmed the impending Xbox 360 price cuts, detailing cuts across the board for all models of the console in Europe.

The price cut, which kicks in on Friday 14th, will see the following reductions:
  • Xbox 360 Arcade - £40 price cut, new Estimated Retail Price of £159.99 (€199.99)
  • Xbox 360 Pro - £50 price cut, new ERP of £199.99 (€269.99)
  • Xbox 360 Elite - £40 price cut, new ERP of £259.99 (€369.99)
“We continue to offer intense, immersive gaming experiences for gamers – but now we’re priced in a way that will allow new consumers to find out for themselves why Xbox 360 is the ultimate in high-definition entertainment.” said Chris Lewis, Vice President of Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Business Europe in a public statement.

“History shows that £159.99 is the price point where a console’s audience begins to expand, and with these new ERPs in place we’re ready to bring more consumers into the Xbox 360 world.”

Arguably this still makes the PS3 a more rounded and better value console, although I still play games more on my 360 right now

If they sort out the three rings of death problem then I might be tempted, I was thinking about it before but this price cut is making in look like a very tempting puchase. Basically it would be for a quick and dirty game fix, I'd still use the PC for real gaming.

What will probably really decide it for me is the wait for the Blue Ray add on to hit the shops, we'll see where they pitch that price.

Lucky I sold my 360 on ebay yesterday (for quite a nice price too). Im firmly in the PS3 camp now... all is bliss :-)

The thought of it dying RROD or otherwise at some point in the future was not a happy thought, plus PS3 seems to have more exclusives coming, plus everything that comes out on 360 is either also available for PS3 or PC. No brainer for me to go with PS3.

And so far so good... UT3, Ratchet and Clank, Burnout, COD4... awesome.

What about the US? I heard that "stuff" would happen once Sony's fiscal year ends this month, but that's just talk so....they do need to drop the price as well to stay competitive.....just too high of a price if you don't use the whole machine for all its worth....if y'know what I mean...

I think you'll find that's 90% of people on xbox live, I play underground and I give as good as I get, I don't give more or less to people of specific accents.

Some yanks are funny on Halo3, although after getting fed up of being asked said questions above, me and a friend started claiming kills "For the Queen" which the US players found hilarious.

Seems more of a general internet thing...

For instance in WoW, pretty much anyone with a country letter code in their name is going to be someone you'll want to avoid...

Apparently the RRP for the 360 Arcade version is less than the Wii now. Not that anyone in their right mind would everby the Arcade version, but it's still an interesting tit-bit nonetheless.

think i might try my hand on a student discount at a gamestation on friday, if that doesnt work ill probs pick up the arcade from shopto...
