Jack Thompson has been ordered to show cause for his numerous court cases by the Florida Supreme Court.
Jack Thompson has been told by the Florida Supreme Court that he must show just cause to explain why he has submitted numerous filings which the court deems as "
frivolous and inappropriate", according to a report from Game Politics.
In
a post on the site, which was apparently passed on to the editorial team by Jack Thompson himself, it has been revealed that the Supreme Court of Florida has passed the following Show Cause Order:
"
It appears to the Court that you have abused the legal system by submitting numerous frivolous and inappropriate filings in this Court. Therefore, it is ordered that you shall show cause on or before March 5, 2008, why this Court should not find that you have abused the legal system process and impose upon you a sanction for abusing the legal system, including, but not limited to directing the Clerk of this Court to reject for filing any future pleadings, petitions, motions, letters, documents, or other filings submitted to this Court by you unless signed by a member of The Florida Bar other than yourself."
Jack Thompson was unavailable to comment further on the order and didn't link to the full text. However, in the original email he has claimed that;
"
This is the single greatest gift that any court has ever given me in my 31 years of practicing law. I shall now, through a new federal lawsuit, deconstruct The Florida Bar…Thank you, Supremes! You have given me the weapons I need."
Meanwhile, Florida attorney Norm Kent, an old adversary of Thompson, told Game Politics his view of the order.
"
This is game, set, match for Mr. Thompson. The Supreme Court gave him a warning last April. Now he is going to be barred from even arguing or pleading his own case. And once the Supreme Court does this, other jurisdictions will follow suit. Looks like his only venue will be Fox News and gaming site blogs."
Thompson has remained a very public thorn in the side of many developers over the years and, although many gamers agree with his message of making inappropriate content inaccessible to young gamers, his outrageous claims have often made him a target for the gaming community.
How do you feel about Jack Thompson and how do you think this case will end? Let us know in

applies extemely well in this case
why yes we do, although we probably do not use it enough.
I serious doubt he has much work as a lawyer. I imagine even if he is disbarred he'll use that to some way justify how video games are evil . If only tv stations would stop having them on their shows and newspapers stop publishing his "news" then maybe he'd just go away.
OMG those teeth..... :D
Now it's time to sue the supreme court...
Reminds me of the evil dude in Roger Rabbit.
Either that or the headless horseman (after he gets his head back) from Sleepy Hollow. :D
now that's a face only a mother would like...... on second thought i think her mother hit the doctor when he was born.... being so ugly and all.....
Sadly so..
The nutty professor at the end of the wizard of Oz!!
unfortunately, this isn't a capital offense. As such, it doesn't qualify for the death penalty. There are always vigilantes, however.
On subject, Finaly and end to his reign of terror. Will this be it from him now? or will he still hit the headlines of gaming sites for more years to come ?
I may not like what he has been doing, his campaign may have been freaking retarded, but this could ruin his life for something he probably thought was a good cause
I think Jack Thompson is losing his credibility. People just aren't really listening to him anymore.
I honestly don't see him as a threat to the gaming industry at all.
As a former resident amen. And god they shouldn't be allowed to drive.
What are you on about?
He never had credibility and no-one ever listened to him!
Sadly he didn't use his powers for the good of everyone.
