Red Alert 3 - the sequel to the best RTS game ever, whatever Tim may think.
The sequel to (arguably) the best RTS game ever made has just been announced and now all eyes are on EA to make a worthy follow-up to the best of all the
Command and Conquer games.
Red Alert 3 is officially in development.
Details are thin on the ground -
very thin in fact, and the announcement has yet to be truly unveiled, but we know the game is being worked on and that's enough for us.
PC Gamer US has bagged the exclusive announcement apparently and early pictures of the cover show concept art of Tanya in full Soviet get-up.
So, aside from that there really isn't anything to say and we'll have to wait until the magazine is released on March 4th to learn anymore. All this waiting - magazines really
drive me up the wall nowadays.
On the plus side, PC Gamer is offering up a chance to win a spot in the
Red Alert 3 beta.
I'd love to write some more now but unfortunately Tim and I are about to come to blows on the topic of "
Which is better, Command and Conquer or Red Alert 2?" I'm in the latter camp and, because I'm the news writer I can have the last word. Take that, Tim!
So,
Red Alert or
Command and Conquer? Or are you more of a
World in Conflict fanboy? Let us know in
the forums.
And for the record, Red Alert 2 was better than C&C, but only because it built upon what C&C had already created. Although in actuality, Red Alert was better than all of them.
Come on Sam, when are we going to play Tiberian Sun?
About time and with some head honchos recent admission of there mistakes with handling westwood property perhaps we can hold out hope that it shall be decent?
Im sorry but ive been waiting on this dam thing so so fecking long!!! woooooooooo
Im here mike, have no fear. RA2 is the BEST in the Red Alert Universe from the Entire C&C stuff, C&C Gold is the best from that, although C&C3 is awesome enough. Sorry mike, Tiberium sun was crap, and looks worse than C&C gold on my 30".
RA3 was annouced years ago in an email that EA sent to people, then a few months later, C&C3 was announced. Frank Klepacki better be doing the OST to RA3, and follow up on the awesomeness of Hell March and Hell March 2. I will definatley be buying this, and like C&C 3 will be working my way up the 1v1 Ladder.
Sam
Could this be the announcment?
Sam
I always prefered Red Alert. It has so much more flavour then C&C.
Tiberium Wars Was very nice, but lacked that something.. something Red Alert had.
nevertheless best RTS is atm for me is SupCom... love the game and the gameplay...
so RA3 will be superb!
Make it like Supreme Commander's zoom and it will be GOLD !
Red Alert 2 is the best of the best
Still play it multiplayer to this day, infact on sunday just past =]
Shame it dont run right in vista (due to lack of ipx i think) but works flawlessly in a virtual PC :D
YURI is PURE PWN!!!!!!!!!!111oneoneoneelevenone! :D
On one hand, Tiberium has Kane and an awesome post-apocalyptic feel, but RA has russian accents, it's too tough to decide.
Although tbh I love Red alert just for the music etc but RA2 was class just for the Kirov airships.
"There's only one true Yuri!" :D
Red Alert 1 was amazing: the missions, the music, the atmosphere, the cutscenes: everything was top notch.
I also liked the fine balance between the different sides: Allied with its superior naval units and Soviet with it's superior air units (and to some extent, land units).
I'm not saying Red Alert 2 was a bad game, by any means. It was pretty good actually;
but Red Alert 2 was great when it comes to multiplayer, the singleplayer part was too.. unserious, for my taste anyway.
I played through it, and it was fun, but it didn't match up to Red Alert 1.
Tiberian Sun had better singleplayer than Red Alert 2 did.
Generals universe just sucks :/
Is it just me that remember RA1 with expansions as much harder to accomplish than RA2?
RA2 > RA > c&c > c&c3 > tiberian sun > generals
imo
Blasphemer!
Quoted for Truth.
"Behold as my army destroys everything you own" hrhrhr
What what what!!! Generals/Zero Hour (much better with zero hour) is a great game, much fun to play, LASER FTW :D
However despite it being a great game, it fails by constantly crashing mid game and players droppping out ughhhhhh, great game pluaged with bugs
:D:D:D:D:D:D
Emperor was a seriously awesome game. I'm half tempted to give that an install now... :D
While I know the game will likely be good (if it runs right), after what EA did with support for The Final Decade, and other games, I hesitate to buy another EA game.
Unfortunately, I'm Red Alert whore (1 and 2, all packs, and even multiple copies since they got worn out) who will end up buying it, I know I will. Damn you EA.
Now, theres less room for error when it comes to RA3, as RA2 was sooooooooo good. I hope there are more factions than just Allied and Soviet, i hope that Yuri has managed to escape or something, keeps the humour going:D.
I think all who posted are awaiting for some screenshots or something, and EA, please, make it full of awesomenesss.
Sam
Lies Generals was class the story but just the units and the missons etc and with zero hour omg what a game
Although Red Alert is still amazing dropping a nuke on someones head while death march plays in the background.
I remember my friend and i use to play at each others home network, starting from Saturday morning to Sunday morning nonstop matches. One match could last several hours. "But he always played the Americans. And when Yuri revenge came out, you could 'mind' control vehicles. He did not know this. So he thought something was wrong with the game. And started cursing his mice and keyboard. And I was literally laughing the tears out of my eyes". It was one of those golden RA moments...

Starcraft is the King of Traditional RTS. RA2 is the Queen beside it.:D
And you can call me Susan if it isn't so.
Starcraft 2 AND Red Alert 3... the return of the champions.
QFT!!
looking forward to some great RTS this year :D
This makes me want to buy it... yesterday :D
I hope this comes out soon, and more importantly, good :)
