Ouch - looks like Snake has got hold of a decent portion of his shares!
Oh dear. Just yesterday we posted the news that
Metal Gear Solid 4 had been delayed and almost straight away the effect is being felt by Konami.
The delay, which has come because Konami is trying to get the game up to a mirror-polish before release, has pushed the game back from
a late-December/Q1 2008 release to a Q2 2008 release which means the earliest we see the game could be the end of March next year.
The effect of that delay is having some serious repercussions for Konami and the share prices of the company have fallen by nearly 7%, reaching an all-time low of 3,160 Yen according to
Bloomberg. The reason is that the delay has pushed the release date out of this financial year and into the next.
Or, in layman’s terms, the game isn't going to make anyone any money this year.
Now, odd as it may sound this may yet make good news for any gamers who want to put their moolah on the line because, if my understanding of shares is correct, then you'll be able to reap a tidy profit next year when the game does come out and inevitably sells by the boatload regardless.
Think the game is worth a punt on the market? Let us know if you give it a go and tell us your thoughts in
the forums.
Konami need to kick the devs into gear and produce quality not half hearted shite thats just a cash in.
I should note I actually do really enjoy PES2008 despite its issues (looks and feels like a PS2 port, with slow down perfectly emulated ) but a lot of people can't look past the issues and are being sent towards Fifa for a good soccer game.
That's a bit harsh isn't it? From what I've seen of the trailers and in-game demos of MGS4, *none* of it looked like half hearted shite. To me a huge amount of effort, time and skill had/has gone into the game.
"Half-hearted shite" and "complex techincal obstacles" such as reliable network code for multiplayer are two different things. :|
Reference was more related to PES2008 rather the MGS4, I can't really comment on MGS4 until its out.
PES6 on PS2 came out a very long time ago, the network code should have improved by now and the game should be a lot better than it is, when Seabass holds a press conference about the game (PES2008) and spends his time apologizing for how bad it is and promises to fix it for 2009 you know they are ashamed, they should have held it back rather than worry about the fact that Fifa might get all the sales, releasing the game as they have done just makes them look crap and doesn't really give you much incentive to even trust they could get a decent varient out of the door next time.
