The Crysis hardware requirements have now been fully revealed.

Crysis is, without a doubt, the most gorgeous game we've ever seen. Even according to developers like Epic, Crysis will be the best games can possibly look - for a while at least.

Of course, as Spiderman knows, with great power comes great...uh, system requirements? Until now, gamers have mostly been guessing about what hardware Crysis will need. Now the specs have been released though, so check them out in full below.

Minimum System Requirements:
OS - Windows XP or Windows Vista
Processor - 2.8GHz or faster (XP); 3.2GHz or faster * (Vista)
Memory - 1GB RAM or 1.5GB RAM (Vista)
Video Card - 256MB **
Hard Drive - 12GB
Sound Card - DirectX 9.0c compatible

Recommended System Requirements:
OS - Windows XP / Vista
Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.2GHz
Memory - 2GB RAM
Video Card - Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS/640 or similar

* Supported Processors: Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz (3.2GHz for Vista) or faster, Intel Core 2GHz (2.2GHz for Vista) or faster, and other similar CPUs.
** Supported chipsets: Nvidia GeForce 6800 GT + or similar GPUs. Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported. Integrated chipsets are not supported. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required.

Is your PC up to the task? Are you more concerned about how the gameplay is shaping up? Well, you can read either our singleplayer preview or our multiplayer preview to get an idea about the latter and you can boast about the former in the forums.

thankfully my comp should be up to the task, 12gb though almost as big as stranglehold :P
Quote Shadow_101 10th October 2007, 09:24
I've got no chance.... bah... who needs anything more advanced than peggle for gaming anyway? :)
Quote riggs 10th October 2007, 09:38
Well, CPU and RAM-wise my machine is spot on. I'm running a 7900GTX 512MB too so I should be ok, will have to ramp down the resolution a bit though.
Quote aon`aTv.gsus666 10th October 2007, 09:41
Not too new... err... news.

My GFX card is what is recommended? Yea, 1024 @ max should be possible, maybe 1280.
Quote Leitchy 10th October 2007, 10:01
I used Crysis as an excuse to overspend on upgrades for my computer, glad I did now!
Quote steveo_mcg 10th October 2007, 10:14
The CPU spec is that P4 equivalent? So an old s939 x2 4600 should be above minimum but below optimum?
Quote Mother-Goose 10th October 2007, 10:17
Jesus, that's impressive specs!
Quote Delphium 10th October 2007, 10:19
Thats quite a hog, though not as much of a hog as I was expecting it to be for such a game.
Surprised they listed the nvidia 6800 as a minimum spec card, and not the nvidia 7x00 series.
Quote Mother-Goose 10th October 2007, 10:20
I was half expecting 8800GTX as the recommended unit. This is good news :)
Quote Darkedge 10th October 2007, 10:24
thats not as bad as bioshock or stranglehold.
Cool.
Quote quack 10th October 2007, 10:25
Good thing I just upgraded then!
Quote cjoyce1980 10th October 2007, 10:44
i assuming the recommended specs are to play the game the way it was designed too
Quote Mankz. 10th October 2007, 11:23
So will an X800 run this @ 1280 x 1024 ??
Quote Xir 10th October 2007, 13:03
...how very open of them...

to specify an Intel only as "recommended system"

I just bought a few new parts yesterday to bring my PC into the new academic year since I've left it rather impotent over the last year. I got myself a C2D E4400, 2GB PC6400 RAM, an Asus P5K SE and a WD 400GB. Paired with the 8800GTS 320MB I bought a few months back, and a measly 17" screen with max. resolution 1280 x 1024, I think Crysis should be playable indeed :) The purchase was mainly meant for The Orange Box first, though! Portal, TF2, EP2.. my first loves!

I think you should update your poor LCD and CPU to match with your 8800

i have a 24" monitor, (1920x1200), is there any chance of getting it running with everything on max with ANY graphics card/sli solution before christmas?

I really doubt it. Perhaps, if you had a 8800 Ultra SLi setup with 4-8GB RAM, the speediest C2D on offer and matching components, you might stand a chance. But even then, I'd say that is a big perhaps.

I think I'll upgrade the monitor to a 22" when I have the funds to, seeing as most are 1650 x 1080 which won't put too much strain on the system. Processor wise, I think I'm fine and dandy for now since student funding means no Quad Cores for me :(
Quote alastor 10th October 2007, 14:34
I've only just managed an upgrade to a 6800 :( I hope minimum doesn't mean 640*480 and low everything...will have to wait and see
Quote Rebourne 10th October 2007, 14:50
I played with minimum specs and an 6800 gt for the beta and found it to be playable and smooth with things on low and a few on medium. It didn't stutter and wasn't buggy to the point it wasn't fun to play so I think people will be fine.
Quote GoodBytes 10th October 2007, 15:31
You guys mention for recommanded "Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2Ghz" But it's also mentioned on their website and several other sourcese the: "Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2Ghz \ AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+"

Don't discriminate AMD users!!! :(
Quote Tulatin 10th October 2007, 15:51
Rofl, as if a 4400+ is equal in performance to a C2D at 2.2 - and yeah, hopefully optimal will = able to do 14x9...
Quote Gunsmith 10th October 2007, 17:15
/me hugs his GTX's

i knew it was worth the extra money :D
Quote Techno-Dann 10th October 2007, 17:22
Hrm, looks like anyone who wants to run it in Vista will need to overclock, or downgrade to a P4.

Why is it that game companies still put things in Ghz? It's not like they're any indication of performance any more.

Well,
GHz indicates the same thing it always has, its not like it used to represent performance and now it doesn't. The problem is when they lay out a generalized clock speed without specifying a processor, because the clock speed only indicates performance relative to processor in the same family. Its weird that the minimum calls for 2.8GHz at the lowest, but the recommended calls for a C2D at 2.2GHz lol. They should really stay consistent with their identification schemes.
Quote GoodBytes 10th October 2007, 17:46
@Tulatin:
For Today's games the CPU won't give you much. It's the video card that does the major part of the work. Having a faster CPU will increase your speed but what? 10-15%, nothing major.
So the AMD Athlon 64 4400+ is correct in the specs.

I bought my new PC back in March with Stalker in mind but it still just squeaks over the recommended spec :D

E6600 2.4GHz
2GB RAM
Single 8800GTX

I wonder if my native of 1680x1050 will be possible with all the bells and whistles on.
Quote heir flick 10th October 2007, 20:33
still trying to find out if it will be optimized for quad cores, read rumors that it will be but no real information yet
Quote bahgger 10th October 2007, 21:08
Quad cores, maybe. Dual cores, I sure hope so! There's bound to be far more market penetration with dual cores than quad cores at the moment if I'm not mistaken
Quote DXR_13KE 10th October 2007, 22:47
i was expecting more.....

Was it not said that Crysis performed best under Direct X 10, 64bit, multi core?!

QFT!!, ughh so true!! Then again I guess this is also where Vista's performance index comes in, and games im sure we shall soon see stating it requires a minimum rating of say 3.5 etc.
Quote HourBeforeDawn 12th October 2007, 05:03
as soon as my graphics card comes in, Im good to go ^_^
Quote Gravemind123 12th October 2007, 05:12
I'm quite set for Crysis so it seems, can't wait to give the full game a try. Hopefully it takes less system power then the beta of it does, because that makes me play on mid/low settings if I go for native resolution of my monitor(1280x1024). Although I only had 1GB of ram installed at that point, so it may run higher when I have a full 2GB again.
Quote Mister_Tad 12th October 2007, 07:19
Half of me was worried that little over a month after upgrading, crysis would need another upgrade.

Though that doesn't give any indication of resolutions, fingers crossed. This game is going to determine whether I get a 24" or not :o
Quote completemadness 12th October 2007, 12:31
I think the beta will probably get quite a bit better in terms of performance
ATM the code does seem to bog it down a lot, and if you look in the console there is a tonne of useless logging
