The Lenovo ThinkView is the first 22" monitor with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels (WUXGA)
Lenovo may have just won my heart with the introduction of its latest monitor. The ThinkVision L220x is set to be the industry's first
affordable 22-inch WUXGA.
WUXGA (Widescreen Ultra eXtended Graphics Array) is the industry standard specification for a 1920x1200 display. At 22-inches, that works out to be just a little over 100 pixels per inch. All of this means that you'll be able to watch 1080p movies in all of their glory on a much smaller monitor than you could before.
The high resolution isn't the only selling point though. The monitor supports a built in four port USB hub, landscape to portrait rotation, a tilt/swivel/pivoting stand, and built in cable management. Full specifications of the monitor include goodies such as: 1000:1 contrast ratio, 6ms response time, 92 percent colour gamut, VGA and DVI-D inputs, HDCP support, and a 178°/ 178° viewing angle.
The ThinkVision L220x is set to debut in November for right around $550. This is sure to give several other, larger monitors a run for their money if the panel lives up to its specs.
While we wait until November to see just how well this monitor compares, check out a couple of pictures below. Don't forget to leave your comments on it
over in the forums or in the comment section below.
Yeah, but the 22" will look a lot sharper then the 24" at the same resolution. I've been wanting to pick up an LCD for some time now (yesh, I still use a CRT when I'm not on my laptop) and I might just give this Lenovo a go.
Is it? What about EIZO CG221? http://www.eizo.com/products/graphics/cg221/index.asp
i think you'll be waiting quite some time - and don't u mean inputs anyway?
I see the story has now been updated. The Lenovo is US$550 so should come in under £400 (still cheaper than plenty of 24" of the same resolution). For reference, I found the EIZO CG221 for £2,800 (over US$5,000!). So this ThinkVision is still big news because it's the first consumer-level WUXGA 22"
Well a 30" WQUXGA display might not be too far off and Samsung has been experimenting with Dolby's IMLED technology so the two may meet in the not too distant future :)
I definitely mean outputs, DVI, Displayport, HDMI, Component, etc...
And this is great news! Screw 22"-ers with 1680x1050-resolution and TN-panels!
P
ah, i'm still not used to getting ripped off
that is also my question.......
bot:
Although i like the idea of a 1980 resolution on 22". I allready have a hard time reading words on my 1650 reso 20" widescreen. I rather have a cheap 26" or higher with 1980 res. with makes it more usefull as both monitor and moviescreen.
Umm I mean inputs :D
They were bought by Dolby in February: http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2007/02/27/dolby_buys_brightside_technologies_hdr_lcd/1
So when JADS refers to "Dolby's IMLED technology" he's talking about Brightside (the IM stands for Individually Modulated btw)
Why is this taking SO long to get to market?
