Wii Zapper dated and priced

The Wii Zapper will launch on November 19th for $19.95 in the US - there's no word on UK availability yet.

I have many fond memories of killing ducks and bad guys back in my early childhood. The flash as I pulled the trigger and watched those vile ducks fall lifelessly from the sky, the click of the trigger, and that damn dog laughing like a madman when I missed with my two shots. Of course I'm talking about using the Zapper lightgun on my NES.

In November, I'll be one step closer to reliving those fond childhood memories and so will you as Nintendo has confirmed that it will be shipping the Zapper attachment for the Wii on the 19th.

Priced at $19.95 in the US, the Zapper will come with a game. Link's Crossbow Training will use the visual styling of Twilight Princess and have the player progress from stationary targets to attacking enemies all while improving Link's marksmanship.

Upcoming games that will support the Zapper include Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicals, Ghost Squad, and Medal of Honor Heroes 2. No word yet as to when we'll see an update to Duck Hunt but hopefully you'll be able to shoot that damn dog this time.

Is anyone else as excited as what I am about the Zapper or do you think it costs too much for a simple piece of plastic? Discuss it with us over in the forums.

That looks brilliant. It doesn't have the retro design of all the photoshopped versions that were floating about a while ago, but playing Resident Evil and MoH will be bloody good fun by the looks. Huzzah!

does the "normal" wiimote integrate into the zapper?

The remote slots in the top with the nunchuck clipped on the back, by the looks of things

Yup, since there's probably no real electronics in it, it'll probably about £15 over here. :)

i wonder how long it will take that third party companies sell "skins" for this nice thingie.
anyone else highly anticipating mp-40-wiimote action? :D

I bought 2 BB guns for a tenner at the weekend. Lots more fun :)

Even being cynical I'd say it'll be £19.99 at worst. Current exchange rates for gear like this say it should be about £15 from somewhere like play.com, but the RRP'll probably be £19.99.

Hah, looks great! Should also be fairly good on the hands. :)

My Wiimotes don't have the standard battery or battery cover, so there could be trouble with 'installation', but hopefully it will be all right.

Not too sure on the ergonomics of that design, looks like it is going to be a tricky one to aim with inless they are thinking of more a shooting from the hip with an aiming point shown on screen which kinda takes the skill out of aiming. Should be easy enough to mod something up from a cheap air rifle stock though.

i swear if they released Duck Hunt ill actually buy a Wii.........

I'm surprised it wasn't something like Samus' arm cannon given the hype for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (which does rock btw)

1. this is awesome.
2. I'm surprised Joe didn't write this.. isn't he the Bit-Tech Video Game Dude?

I hope it has laser sight, and i´d prefer the photoshopped shotgun design for the wii zapper (looks way cooler then that futuristic funny looking "gun" they came up with)

This is gonna be great :)

Maybe duck hunt will be available for download, would seem like an obvious idea.

I dunno, it looks a bit awkward looking.

I'm going to laugh at anyone who pays $20 for a piece of plastic that would probably not be as ergonomic as some of the after market stuff.
Quote Morphine-Kitty 12th September 2007, 00:48
Looks kinda stupid to me. I'll just buy a cheap plastic toy gun at Walmart and mod the Wiimote in. :p

Would you like to point to said aftermarket gun that holds both the Wiimote and the nunchuck for under $20?
Quote Soulmage 12th September 2007, 22:29
They already have this one out. I know that this is real because I have seen it for sale at the local GameStop where I bought my Wii
