Would that not be a bit scary to realize that your mobile was actually a killer machine?

Would that not be a bit scary to realize that your mobile was actually a killer machine?

This, my friends, has to be one of the coolest mobile phones that I've ever seen in my life. Some ingenious modder out there has made a cell phone that transforms into, well, a Transformer.

Unfortunately this is not a working mobile and seems to have been done with a display model instead, but you have to admit that it's still pretty freaking awesome. I can't read any Japanese but if you feel up for giving us a translation, you can check out the original story over on PhoneDaily.

Instead, I'll let the pictures speak for me below.

How awesome is this? If you can give us a translation so we can give credit where credit is due, head on over and discuss it in the forums or in the comment section below.

Cool mod, next step make it work.

Unh... *scrapes jaw up*

Now if they'd do that to/with a working model...

That is cool!!

Now make it fold back up differently, so it becomes a useful portable gaming device.

I can't wait for the day when your PDA is an actual mini-robot assistant that rides around in your pocket. :D

If he does that with a functional mobile, he will be the King of Geeks and I will kneel humbly before him.

Engadget is wrong. I did enough research with this one to find that out. Plus, if you look at the pictures, there's no PCB present in any of them. It would take an entire reworking of the circuit boards to put them into many pieces to get it to work.

Chobits?

If you machined the parts and had wires running through the universal joints, and did a multi-layer PCB etch it certainly is possible. might be an interesting project to pick up in my spare time....

[edit:]damn you, hourbeforedawn, you beat me to it!

There're something need to be clarified.

First, he is a Chinese.
Second, the original artical says that he actually not modded a Transformer, but a GunDam.
( In fact, he started to make it far before the advent of the film Transformers.)

Well transformers existed long before the film so that isn't particuarly relavant, but yes, gundam is far more likely.
