Alone in the Dark has undergone a bit of reimagining lately, what with an awful film being released starring Christian Slater and a new game in the works for the 360, PS3 and PC. It’s fair to say that this game looks to be pretty good too, with a gorgeous looking engine and a focus on more a more open style of level design set in a city park at night.

Of course, the bad news is that the game recently got delayed a bit and was pushed back for all platforms from this year to the next fiscal year. For all you non-accountants out there, that means the game may not see a release until as late as March 31, 2008.

But it gets even worse – it turns out there may be a delay within the delay and the PS3 version of the game will reportedly not be coming out at the same time as the 360 and PC versions.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Atari didn’t give a reason why the PlayStation 3 version of the game will see a later release – although it was confirmed that the PS3 version was definitely still in development.

So, a delay for a PS3 title? Hate to say it, but we aren’t surprised. Delays like these are now fast becoming common for PlayStation 3 ports, though no reason is ever given by the developers.

UT3 & Assassin's Creed baby....those games are gonna be awesome....I also want to give Lair a try even though all of the "official" reviewers hate it, but people that have played it say you have to take the time to get used to the controls (as with any game you'd hope) and then it's actually worth playing...either way that sux how even longer delays continue for the PS3...I too want to know what causes it....is it the Cell processor, the SKUs, etc. or what?

I don't know if it is the processors or development. Maybe I'm understimating the span of a week on developing on what should be final code for games that keep getting delayed a week or 2 after the 360 release. I don't want to say MS has anything to do with it, but it's becoming a trend to get the 360 product out the door, with the PS3 a few weeks behind it. I just don't see it any other way than promoting better sales on the 360 since the PS3's userbase is smaller.

The Orange Box Half-Life release has been delayed on PS3. That one bugs me the most.
