There will be a Crysis single player demo available for download on September 25th.

Electronic Arts has announced that a single player demo for Crysis, the eagerly-anticipated first-person shooter from Crytek, will be released on 25th September – the same day that Halo 3 is released for Xbox 360 in the US.

The demo will feature the first level of the game, “Contact”, which is the same level that we had chance to play at i31 earlier this month.

At the time, we thought there was still quite a bit of work to be done on the shooter, but I’m still pretty optimistic about the title considering the code we played on was pre-alpha, and let's not forget that I was a huge Far Cry fan too.

Crytek is yet to announce the minimum and recommended system specifications, but we can expect to find out when the demo hits the net, if not before.

The game will be released simultaneously in Europe and North America on 16th November. Are you looking forward to it, and if so, will you be upgrading your system to play it? Tell us in the forums.

Thanks to bit-tech forum member The Stig for the tip.

the time for the switch to vista has arrived ...... unfortunately.
Is it confirmed that this game will run on DX10 only ? I was hoping to wait the first service pack before switching to vista for good.
Quote steveo_mcg 28th August 2007, 16:38
You sure, why did they bother with the comparison vids earlier in the year?

Also given the valve survey from earlier only a small % of gamers can run dx10, this would be a stupid decision.

no, it was confirmed a long time ago that it would be both dx9 and dx10 :p
Quote Bogie 28th August 2007, 16:42
Screw Vista i'll be playing in dx9
Quote Bauul 28th August 2007, 16:44
To convince people to upgrade to DX10? If it's DX10 only, I simply won't be playing it, and it's their loss. Lets hope it isn't, though I'm pretty sure it won't be, as I'm sure most people know just how small the Vista penetration is into gamer's machines.

Screw XP, i'll be playing in DX10

It's DX10 and DX9 - the version we played at i31 was DX9 running on XP.

Awesome, will be interesting to see just how well this runs on my machine. Quite impressed with how smoothly Bioshock ran, as well as Medal of Honour Airborne.

It's not necessary since it does everything XP can and more. The sooner you upgrade the sooner you get used to the changes :)

I upgraded to the PC in my sig to play this. Bioshock runs smooth with everything maxed out at 1600x1200 so hopefully Crysis should too.

Looking forward to it although not really seen much new from it tbh just seems like another fps with advanced graphics and they aint gonna keep me warm at night I mean look at Doom 3 a game I got bored of within an hour.

But should be quiet intresting.
Quote johnnyboy700 28th August 2007, 21:22
This is the one I've really been looking forward to, I hope we don't have a repeat of the Bioshock copy protection problems - I didn't let it spoil the game, just got a bit narked with the whole situation.

I don't remember it saying that Crysis was a DX10 only game, I'm pretty sure I saw in a recent interview with the developers in PC Gamer that it would be DX9 compatable - I'll have to check on that. I hope its not DX10 only, I'm not touching Vista with barge pole at the moment, there's still plenty of life left in XP yet.
As for Vista, I mean, take a look at one of the "flagship", "must by" games (I'm looking at you here Halo2!), come on guys what on earth were you thinking when you try to push a three year old game that runs on a X-Box as gaming highlight of your new wonder O/S? The original on the X-Box was a big disapointment in terms of gameplay so when they roll it out for the Vista launch and its fugly as well, what chance does it have.
Sheesh who the hell green lit that project? Did they think we'd fall over ourselves to buy anything with the Halo name slapped on it? You conned me once with the X-Box version, not this time - I guess I'm still a bit peeved that H2 was so poor. I didn't buy myself a 360 (yet) so H3 isn't tempting me at all.
Quote leexgx 28th August 2007, 23:07
hope thay do not use Secrom on this game just frign key it

the game is DX9 and DX10 and will work on XP and vista. Thay are not Daft by filltering out 90%-98% of the market, who ever thought up H2 to only alow it to staup on vista when the game is Native DX9 game {not even sure if the game supports DX10 for that matter} theres an patch for that any way to alow that to startup on XP
Quote keir 28th August 2007, 23:13

Quote 24-1 6th September 2007, 16:48

Quote Ayrto 6th September 2007, 18:02
It might not have the Bioshock protection issues ,but with EA's involvement... I'm sure they'll have found some way to balls it up.
Quote mikeuk2004 6th September 2007, 18:20
Looking forward to Halo 3 the day after
