AMD will no longer work directly with the new Evesham.

In the wake of Evesham Technology going into administration earlier this month, AMD has told PC Pro that it will no longer be dealing directly with the Evesham brand, which is now owned by newly formed GeeMore Technology.

In a statement yesterday, the company said "AMD can confirm that it is no longer working with Evesham. It will not disclose information regarding individual business engagements with its partners. AMD remains committed to supporting the UK channel."

After many years of a largely AMD weighted business model, Evesham will now not be privy to roadmaps, marketing deals, early samples and preferential placement in the pecking order.

GeeMore Technology formed a few days before Evesham Technology entered administration and will continue to trade under the Evesham brand with Richard Austin at the helm. The company has been funded with a $22 million investment from PCC Technology, a Dubai-based investment company which is run by the ex-Time Computers boss Tahir Moshan.

The Managing Director of GeeMore and Evesham, Richard Austin, replied to the news, "All AMD are saying is they are not going to be working with us direct - we'll still buy AMD processors through distribution. It's not going to cause any supply issues to our customers."

Not really. Its like you are in an office and the guy in the next cubicle is your mate. One day he gets replaced, the new guy has the same job and uses the same equipment as the last guy. Are you automatically friends with him?

Evesham is under new management and AMD aren't going to carry over the trust they had with the previous management just because the rest of the company is the same; the manufacturing and research dept etc wasn't the part that AMD were working with when they made those deals.

More like the guy next to you gets a new manager so you put up a partition, refuse to share pencils, pens etc. wont tell him what projects your working on and send an e-mail to the entire company stating these intentions

Checking out that wikipedia entry it looks like they haven't improved their staff relations since I worked for them a few years ago. All the same I wish the new owners luck in their first stock check, they'll need it to find everything that's gone missing...
