The Games Convention is held every year in Leipzig, but word on the grapevine suggest that that may all be about to change next year.

The event has seen massive growth this year - reportedly as much as 40 percent - thanks to the recent down-scaling/death of E3. Now the demand for places is outgrowing the venue and 'several industry insiders' are supposedly hinting that the show may have to change location next year.

It doesn't come as a big surprise; with E3 now only invitation only there are only a handful of 'big' games conventions left on the global calendar - mainly Leipzig and the Tokyo Game Show. As E3 is now off-limits to most, the gamers have had to flock to different venues in order to get a fix of gaming convention bliss.

The two cities which have been hinted to accept the place of Leipzig are Frankfurt and Cologne, both of which are much larger cities which already hold large events. We'd have to agree with Joystiq though and hope that the event is instead moved to Munich and scheduled to coincide with the massive Oktoberfest drinking festival. That'd be ace.

The down-sizing of E3 however has also prompted many games companies such as Ubisoft to schedule their own gaming events, such as this year's Ubidays which we attended in Paris recently.

Ever been to a games convention, or does the idea of thousands of sweaty geeks put you off the idea of gaming altogether? Let us know what you think.
