Video Games Live is a concert which plays music from games such as Zelda and Halo.

Music is one of the most important parts of a gaming experience, but one which often goes without notice as players focus more on the graphical output of various games. Thankfully the last few years have seen a group of musicians and orchestras perform globally to help praise one of the more classically artistic aspects of a modern game; musical composition.

Video Games Live, for those not in the know, is a celebration of some of the best game music from the history of computer games. Touring worldwide, it is bulled as the 'number one video game touring concert in the world', not that there is a lot of competition in that category.

Still, the concert is widely acclaimed and has been a massive critical success for gamers and n00bs alike for it's interactive performance segments and the adaptation of game music to a classical performance format.

The concert, which has toured globally, is now seeing a mainstream release with a CD and DVD of it's performance in Rio de Janiero. Online trailers have been released to show just what the concert holds in store for music fans and fans will be able to order a copy of the DVD or CD from the website soon.

The concert, founded by Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall who have worked on titles such as Jade Empire and Earthworm Jim, features performances of music from games as varied as Tetris and God of War. There's even music from staff favourites, Beyond Good and Evil and some classic Lucasarts adventure games.

Will you be ordering a copy, or do you prefer your games with the sound down? What's your favourite game soundtrack and do you plan to visit the show next time it plays near you? Answers in the forums please, but this time we'll only listen to answers which rhyme to the post above it. See? We can be musical too.

They'd better have ALL the music from Hitman Silent Assasin on it.

para 2 -"Touring worldwide, it is bulled as the 'number one video game" - bulled? :D

btw, you broke the rule, the post above yours didn't rhyme with the post above it.

With that in mind, here's some fluff, for the forums.

I've always wanted to hear the intro from Wing Commander played by a full string orchestra!

The only decision to make now is do I buy this after or before I've been to the show :D

Who invented the rule? I'm no rappar.
Why does it have to rhyme?
Does Bit-Tech need a company song?
On his hands the editor has too much time?
This should have a metre,
But it would take too long.

Always thought that Total Annihilation's score would go down awesomely in a live performance.. At least an extended version of it.

Loving the Zelda parts to their performance though :)

There was a concert of Final Fantasy music not all that long ago - I remember because Square had a questionaire on their site asking what music in particular FF gamers would most like to hear performed by a full orchestra.

When I finally got to hear the concert, however, I was a little disappointed.

...

Thing is, there is so much good music from so many games; a lot of the music from the Hitman games is a must, too. :D
