We first saw Cooler Master's latest chassis at CeBIT, but back then it was in the very early stages of development. We're now fast approaching the launch, which will happen in the next few weeks and the case's design is just about finished.

There have been some changes made since we first saw it, a lot of which were discussed in a meeting I had with the case's product manager during a visit to Taiwan in April.

Interestingly, the case uses negative pressure to ensure that there is enough cool air inside the chassis - there is one intake fan and three exhausts, two on the top and one on the back, all of which are 120mm units. Unfortunately, the two on the top aren't close enough together to attach a 2x120mm radiator for watercooling.

However, the bar that sits across the middle of the chassis isn't just another useless piece of plastic because, thanks to the way that the case uses negative pressure, it draws cool air in through the vent on the back of the case, over the graphics cards. There is also the option to install a 120mm fan into this bar, giving even more airflow over your high-end and potentially very warm graphics cards.

The foam cable routing canal has been removed and replaced with a couple of holes for routing cables - this is a far better solution than the original idea, but the cabling still looks a little messy (in Cooler Master's attempt on display). All of the rest of the features we outlined at CeBIT still look to be there, and we'll be giving the case a full review as soon as we get our hands on one!

As far as pricing, it's looking quite attractive - Cooler Master expects the case to go on sale for around £120 (inc VAT), which is much less than we were expecting. I'll leave you with a few pictures, and you can discuss the new chassis in the forums.

It's starting to grow on me tbh, alright it's not really plain, but it's enough imho, and the cooling looks awesome. I'll wait for the BiT review, then make a final judgement. ;)

But for 177€ I can probably buy a better looking aluminum case.

What I don't get is why Cooler Master wasn't able to build a proper rig.
It looks really messy inside.

What bar? The images on this site are always too small and not expandable if you're going to point something out zoom in on the image or whatever to get your point across.

I know what bar(duct) you are speaking of Antec had them in the older P180s horrible solution made way too much noise.

I'm referring to the bar that runs across from the rear I/O to the drive cage. I know a lot of manufacturers have used similar "bars" for "extra support" but this isn't about that load of rubbish, it's more of an air duct than a bar, I guess - I'm in bad habits from times of old

I believe that the current cases are handmade, so it's not recommended. But on the retail cases, these should be "handles", afaik.

I like that they have moved the PSU to the bottom though,
is there a vent under there so that there is cooler air for the PSU? All cases should place the PSU at the rear base of the case.

It looks like cable routing will be the toughest part of making that case look good. I cant believe they chose to showcase that with such terrible cable management, if they had spent 3 minutes more on that, added watercooling it would really help make the rig look better.

Shame that the plastic they have used makes it look so cheap. I know it's £120 but they could have pulled of something a little mory classy...it looks like something from the set of a very bad F Class Sci-Fi movie.

Ach Coolermaster went wrong when the guys that now form Silverstone left. ATCS cases were great with the understated design and all brushed ali. It just seems to me that now they use their good name to put high prices on lower quality steel/plastic cases.

Silverstone or Lian-Li is the only way forward at the moment.

I knew from the start this was going to be a controversial case. I had a chance to see the initial prototype in real life at CeBIT 2006 in a small and dark room at their booth. Last CeBIT they showed the new prototype and I have to say the case has had a lot of improvements. The brushed aluminum just looks great with the glossy black acrylic.
The handles are really the most unique feature of the case, and will certainly not appeal to all. They are functional though, sturdy enough to lift the case up.
A nice feature is the possibility to place a dual 120mm radiator at the top of the case. Unfortunately that will require some modding, but it certainly can be done. Another nice thing is the padded sidepanels which will kill most of the system's noise making this a really quiet rig.
I can't wait to get my hands on one of these, fortunately for me it looks like CM will send me one for another casemod project.
