Watch out for the sequel to Company of Heroes. It might take your head off!

The Editor of Games For Windows magazine seems to have let slip that there's a sequel to Company of Heroes in the works.

GFW mag will, apparently, have 'exclusive' info about the follow up in which, we quote,

"We get to kill more Nazis again!! Yay! Them shitz never gets old, knowhumsayin?"

Not exactly, but I think we get the drift.

So the idea that a massively successful game would get a sequel isn't exactly the most inspired thing we've heard - our betting is that Relic started work on the sequel almost as soon as they finished the first, given the critical acclaim that the game received (bit-tech, for instance, loved it).

Expect more of the same - more missions, more unit types, more locations but the same kind of intricate RTS gameplay. Frankly, who's to complain - CoH was a great game last year and, Supreme Commander notwithstanding, the sequel could well be one of the best games we see this year (or next, no word on a release date yet).

Did you play through the game? Excited about a sequel? Let us know your thoughts over in the forums.

I guess if they do a sequel it will be american forces vs germans again, whereas if they did expansions people would complain if they didn't add the british/russians etc.

i found the game was great but got a bit stale after a while not enough variation in the units and nnot enough of them. needed british and russians to add another dimension to it hope sequel does

They definetly need a Russian force. Instead of Allied War Machine, they should get Soviet Infantry Machine, which spits out infantry. And instead of 6 riflemen, they should come in 24s, but carry crappy guns, while 1/2 the infantry is just fodder and are used as meat shields.

Hmm I would've thought there would be an expansion or two before a full blown sequel, the game definitely seems like it's designed with that in mind if you look at some of the menus.

"hey we got money from the first game, lets make a new one!" Please support the community and fix the imbalances before already starting on the next one.

Indeed there's not enough units IMO, the game gets rather booring after a while if one doesn't just try to get as high in the ladder as possible. Riflespam, tigerspam, spampspamspampam. And if someone doesn't guess, I bought the game for 50 € and am not too happy with it :)

Haha.... tigerspam - that doesn't happen often.

But yes, the game is slightly unbalanced - at least for multiplayer. It's alright for 1v1s, but when you have 2v2 or more, one guy infantry rushes, while the other guy tank rushes, or worse - howitzerspams you with his 6 cannons.

I just bought c&C3 yesterday afernoon and i loved it from the intro to the first 3 levels i played yesterdag. I really like the cut scenes with some very known actors from movies and series. (battlestar galactica) I could jump right into the game. With COH it was likewise so i would love a sequel of COH.

I also bought SC but i hate the whole interface. I havent got a clue what to do or where i am playing for. It takes ages to build something and you need some robo-dude to build anything. Its slow and irritating to do it this way. Unless you out of work and have nothing to do then you would probably love SC. If you want fast building and instant action then COH and C&C3 is the thing for you.

So people on Bit actually play it online?

I thought I was the only one here...

Anyway after listening to podcasts, interviews, forum posts... Seems it’s an expansion pack which can get away with using minimal new models and textures. So should be a nice easy money maker, no eastern front at all.

Add to that there are still bugs and connection problems online, we seem to have another contender for EA in a lack of community support. Like BF2 still a great game though.
