Will you get your bum rush on to iTunes?
Here's a great idea for you. Ever wanted to stick it to the man? Show the RIAA that we don't need their poncy chart music? Well, comrade, today's the day.
It's
Bum Rush the Charts day. What's that? Well, the idea is that today, fans of independent music (and RIAA haters) push an independent label band to the top of the iTunes chart. Right now, number one is Beyonce and Shakira, so there's a bit of work to do.
The track is
Mine Again by
Black Lab, and you can easily find it in the iTunes Store by just searching for Black Lab. Buy the track, then tell all your friends to do the same - and with a bit of luck, it could hit the charts and send a signal to the record industry types that want to do over internet music.
You can also buy the track through
this link, which will give a cut of the track's profits to an education scholarship.
To make sure the net community hears about this,
you can Digg it, too.
Whilst it's true that buying from iTunes isn't exactly a textbook definition of sticking it to the man, it is at least talking in a language that the music industry will understand - money.
Is this a good idea? Bad idea? Let us know your thoughts
over in the forums.
Perhaps.
"we dont like the way you sell music, and in protest we think everyone should buy something from you and give you lots of cash"
Mind you if this kind of protest kicks off, Ill be organising the "whisperwolf is a greedy corporate whatsit and in protest we should send him cash" day.
Noo never, they would never do that ... would they??? :D :)
Lazarus Dark seriously 79 pence - I could go into Bristol Centre and find that in 1 and 2 pence's on the floor its really not very much money.
As for me i've bought it :)

It's pathetic self promotional rubbish and i'm disppointed you're pushing it Wil. Especially as they're a band that have already been signed to a major record label - how about you give a totally unknown band a helping hand. Or, if they'd made a generic, buy-what-independent-choon-you-want day then maybe i could see the point.
Bah, i could rant for a week on this.
Oh, and Bit-Tech whoring themselves out for..... Wait - what is bit-tech getting out of this deal? Are you whoring for nothing? Or, maybe you're just whoring for page hits....
As said above by others, I'm not sure exactly why this made it to the front page....
And that would be foolish.
