Want DRM free music from big names?

Amie St has cheap, DRM free music. Good stuff.
Well, no. There are plenty of services that will sell you DRM-free music. But have you ever heard of any of the artists?
But thanks to an announcement this week, music retailer Amie St is making something of a buzz in the online world. Here's part number one - they sell DRM free music, so you buy the 192k MP3 of whatever it is you like.
Here's part number two - the site just signed a deal with Nettwork Music Group, a record label that represents major Canadian artists including Avril Lavigne, Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLachlan. Barenaked Ladies is listed on the site right now for purchase, with other artists coming over the next couple of months.
Here's number three - the pricing is variable depending on popularity. Inspired by Digg, no doubt, a song, when first posted, is free to download. Free music! As people download it, it goes up in price - maybe it will cost a cent, then 10 cents, then 20 cents, whatever. Eventually, massively popular tracks cost 98 cents, which is the maximum cost for a track.
The upside to this is that there's lots of DRM-free, legal music at AllOfMP3 scale prices. You will also get to buy big-name artists that you can transfer anywhere, and that's a good thing.
Where one label leads, more are sure to follow - look out for more announcements about big groups on Amie St over the next few months, we suspect. In the mean time, take a look at the service and let us know your thoughts over in the forums.

Why do you think the site is down?
All those fake MP3 files people downloaded from RIAA "agents" or whatnot are actually very very state of the art Trojans, and as a poor sap who has one of them, their computer is now a bot in the RIAA bot network...
and currently, your bot is DDoSing this companies website... :/
Speaking of which, the head of the RIAA was on (I think it was) The Ed Schultz Show on Air America (left wing radio). First time I've had Air America turn my stomach :(

hehehe harsh! This does sound brilliant, my only gripe is that I like a lot of crazy music and it does kinda seem like this is only popular artists. Think they might expand and time goes by?
