Rumours are flying that Alan Wake won't see the light until 2008, but developer Remedy won't comment.
Alan Wake is one of those titles that has been an unsung hero of "Next Gen." The graphically gorgeous game is being developed by Remedy, the same company that brought us
Max Payne. Indeed, many people have been looking forward to this title, despite its lack of press in comparison to
Halo 3 and
Gears of War.
Unfortunately, it looks like
you may be waiting a little bit longer. Rumours are everywhere that the game will be delayed out to 2008, which will likely dishearten many enthusiastic gamers. Until then, it looks like we'll be getting our fix with screenshots. Since there is little in the way of fact, it is assumed this will be for both the PC and the XBox 360 versions of the game.
Neither Remedy nor Microsoft are commenting on the release rumour, which is largely to be expected. DailyTech notes that it's unfair to call it a delay, and they're technically right - a release date for the game has never been announced. Of course, we did get a bit of a teaser at IDF 2006, when Intel ran the program to the awe of attendees on its Kentsfield setup.
Are you looking forward to
Alan Wake? Is the delay a put-off to you, or simply more time to perfect another great game? Tell us your thoughts
in our forums.
This game is still too early in development to have any expectations on a release. Add in the fact that it's fairly ambitious, and I could easily see "another delay" to q4 2008.
I'd rather have it "good" than "fast", but having both never hurts either ;)
Aggies
Now we have time to for bugs to be worked out of vista, and more choice in DX10 graphics cards to be out and about, multi core prices to drop even more (entry level quad core )
This game isn't being made to run on a core2duo e6600 and 7900 SLI config, you'd probably be dissapointed if you ran it on that (and that is still better than what i have now). This will give us all time to upgrade to something with the umpff (that's a technical term) that this game will need for the settings to be knocked up above low.
Just another rumour on the loose (AGAIN), that's all...
Like i say about all games, if they are worth waiting for so that they are not buggy or short I don't mind. I have wow and DoD source to keep me happy in the meantime.
What am I going to feed to my 8800GTX? (suggestions welcome ;-)
