Command & Conquer 3 is set to take war into the next generation with stunning visuals.
Command & Conquer will be returning to the console platform after a seven year absence, with the third game announced yesterday to be released on the Xbox 360.
The news could entice a whole sector of gamers who were previously a bit put off by the console's lack of RTS games. With only Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth really flying the flag for RTS games on the 360, the addition of one of the most popular war strategy gaming franchise will certainly be welcomed.
Mike Glosecki, Senior Producer at EA LA had this to say:
“C&C 3 is a perfect fit for the Xbox 360. Xbox 360 players will enjoy the action-packed online play and watching the epic Sci-Fi story of the game unfold as they play through the single player campaign.”
The game is also due out for the PC and the early signs look pretty positive. Graphics look awesome and the storyline, a sci-fi affair set in 2047 that will see Earth teetering on the edge of destruction, looks fairly solid. On top of this EA has secured the voice-acting talents of some of Hollywood's big stars.
Tricia Helfer (otherwise known as the really fit blonde bird from Battlestar Galactica),
Josh Holloway (Sawyer from Lost) and
Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) amongst others. It's shaping up to be pretty awesome!
Why buy this game for the 360 and not the PC? EA is promising to utilise the full power of Xbox Live and allow for a smooth multiplayer experience. Not only this, EA is offering a 'steady stream' of downloadable content for wannabe generals to download. What will be really interesting is seeing whether this will allows PC gamers to play 360 gamers; in which case surely PC players would have an advantage?
Looking forward to Command & Conquer 3? Let us know in the
forums.

I'd say the only reason to get it on the 360 instead of the PC is if it couldn't handle it, but saying it's just a tarted up C&C Generals engine, most PCs should be able to handle it on lower settings. The devs said in an interview they wanted it to look good but also make it so it still looks good at low settings for people without pimped out PCs.
Problem with this is the 360 users would just get prawned by keyboard and mouse users.
For RTS I agree, we have much more control with many more buttons, but fps, now that would be a contest.
i doubt that much. the speed and accuracy granted by the mouse over the joypad is almost unmeasurable.
that's all well and good, but how much is it going to cost?? and why isn't it in the game anyway?
It will be new maps and maybe new units. Patches are not new content.
Anyway why do people complain about patches??? They are there to fix the game. At least you have a option to patch a PC game as console games couldnt be patched. With console games you have put up with the buggs in the games. I played hundreds of games across different consoles that have bugs and theres nothing you can do about it. Its not just EA as every PC game i own has had patches for it.
Just get over it and be pleased with the fact that the games developers still work on the game after its released and do what they can to fix any bugs that have been discovered. They could easily just forget about it and move onto the next new title.
Back on topic
I cant wait for this on the PC as I have the entire series and bout all on day of release. I just been back on generals this last couple of weeks replaying every mission. Cant get enough of C&C.
Xbox 360 version should be mouse only and sold with a mouse if needed. I tried playing C&C on playstation and another console but played poor with a joypad.
Although now with analogue sticks it might play alot better than a d-pad, as good as a mouse but wont be better.
This is bad news for us PC gamers, anyone remember Deus Ex and Invisible War? Well that's wat happens when PC games become console games, they get watered down.
I for one don't want some overly simplified UI just because there's a console version out. They had better not sacrifice anything on the PC release...
They, as you put it will water down the Cosole version, the PC version will remain as crisp and amazing as they say it will be.
The console command and conquer was brilliant, its the first time i played Command and Conquer, and now im hooked, ok, im hooked on teh PC version, to be honest, being a nut as i am, i dout i will buy the game on the 360, as i will have already bought it on the PC.

didn't work. to my dissapointment, I was planning on laying the smackdown.
i hope MS updates the 360 firmware so it can use keyboards and mice.
I had BF2 from day one and not had any problems with it, yeah there a few bugs but it has not effected my fun in playing the game.
Again patches are there to fix the problems so be greatful. Its anoying but software is a very difficult product to make perfect. Your not infallible are you?
The humor and charm of the older CnC games is gone forever. They left, right along with most of Westwood Studios' staff. I mean, C'mon! We won't see the goofy General from RA2 chewing on his cigar, and the ridiculous Russian Prime Minister hiding under his desk in his underwear is a thing of the past. I think most of the old schooler CnC'ers know what I'm talking about.
If I see one god damn Pepsi ad so help me...
I still play all the older command and conquers. However, i refuse to call any command and Conquer game made by EA anything but utter humiliation to the achievements of Westwood studios.
I wish the people that worked at Westwood could come together and make another rts, even if they cannot use the command and conquer name.
I had so many great memories with red alert 2. That game by far had the best videos. However, i enjoy multiplayer on tiberium sun for the sheer amount of mods people made for it.
they can't, becouse if they do that they recive flame from SH who make games for PC and from those who make HW for PC like nvida ati.
What happen if ppl who spend money on PC start to buy console in order to play the same game spending less money? no way.
i am a PC user and i think that there are games made for PC like FPS and RTS, other games can be played on console.
btw some ppl say that pc users are runining the market with piracy i don't believe so. if an appassioned pc user want to buy a game in order to play it online he buy it. But i have learn that sometimes is better to wait when u want to play a game specially if is an EA game. i remember when i have bought Generals and ZH, no patches a lot of problem wth online games ( i play WC3 with the same router and config and it works perfectly), so i won't buy c&c 3 untill i am sure that it works.
Console user are ppl who are satisfied when they buy a game becouse everything works and they don't care if they will play that game for 1 week or 1 year they just buy it and spend 60. They don't care to play an RTS with a PAD or a FPS, they think that the best way. Everbody who play with pc knows what's the best one.
I loved all the great things from westwood. It was way ahead in time in 'gameplay' and 'fun' then all of the games from the last year combined. And i really believe the well known 'harvester - cant find my home' bug was made on purpose in all the westwood C&C games.... :)
This, however, is a less friendly warning - racist comments are against both the rules and the culture here at bit-tech, and remarks about "****in chinks" are wholly inappropriate. This is a community founded on tolerance, friendliness and reasoned debate. Suggest you look some of those words up in a dictionary. In any event, I was led to believe that Sony is a Japanese company.
