Unless you've been making like an ostrich for the last few days, you will probably know that NVIDIA announced it's rather awesome GeForce 8800-series video cards on Wednesday evening.

If you haven't already checked our review, we recommend that you set aside some time to learn about the most exciting graphics architectures the world has seen since ATI's Radeon 9700-series.

Amidst the launch day mayhem, the guys at BFG Tech and Danger Den announced the world's first production water-cooled GeForce 8800 GTX. Not only that, but the two companies have created the first single-slot GeForce 8800 GTX too.

Danger Den's waterblock is constructed in Copper with a Delrin cover and supports 1/2", 3/8" and 1/4" tubing with a G1/4 BSPP thread. We've attached some high-resolution goodness so you can see the card in all of its glory.

Overclockers UK has the card listed on pre-order for a hefty £600 including VAT, so you'll have to re-mortgage your house if you want a pair of these babies. From what we understand, the card is still clocked at the reference clock speeds of 575MHz core, 1350MHz shader and 1800MHz memory, because NVIDIA has prevented partners from overclocking on launch day.

However, while we were out visiting NVIDIA at its Santa Clara headquarters last month, we asked Tony Tamassi, Vice President of Technical Marketing at NVIDIA, about partner overclocking - he told us that NVIDIA wasn't going to stop partners from overclocking. I guess that means that we will see some pre-overclocked cards announced at some point in the near future.

Purdy. Every time I read about that Santa Clara HQ I read it as "Santa Clause headquarters" - with bits like that inside, the mistaken name might not be too far off accurate for many geeks :D

Can't use dual slot cards in my machine at all as I need all 3 PCI slots so water is the only way to go, not seen any shots of the rear of this thing yet I have had quite a few water blocks that claim to be single slot but they add an unecessarily large backing plate or over large screws meaning that if you have a large PCI device in an adjacent slot like an Xfi with large caps I have to bend or Physx card with largish cooler then teh clearance isn't quite there, would you know if these have this issue or any further shots.

The best WC blocks I have had so far for fitting my stuff in are from Innovatek but even they provide a silly backing plate that I had to hack down would like to just buy something like this and have it fit without getting out the hacksaw/dremel.

If these are good I may just bring a few back from the US next month and take advantage of the nice exchnage rate :D
