Keep waiting for Crysis.
The talented chaps at Croteam, the development studio behind the eagerly-anticipated
Crysis, have always told us that they expect to ship the game before Windows Vista hits. The game doesn't
require Direct X 10, and there were some hints that we could see a surprise hit before Christmas - or at the very least, early in the new year, before Vista launches on January 30.
Well, put any such aspirations out of your mind. Crysis won't now be shipping until April 2007
at the earliest. This is, to put it mildly, gutting.
The news came in EA's earnings conference call, which also revealed that Army of Two, a PS3 co-op exclusive, would also be pushed out.
Gamers have been ogling at Crysis as the best-looking game currently in development and one that would fully take advantage of quad-core processors and uber-bleeding-edge hardware such as Nvidia's G80.
But, gamers are going to have make do for a while, and continue to eagerly watch videos and drool over screenshots. Oh well.
Let us know what you think about the Crysis delay
over in the forums.
Well did they actually say that it was due out for christmas? Or was it just the media predicting it would be?
I would rather the developers hold back than rush out another game thats ruined by the bugs. The developers obviously feel they need more time to make the game better.
Kudos to the Crytek guys for not rushing things.
Aggies
Yes, of course, damn EA for listening to the developers for the first time in ages... Damn them for giving the developers more time to perfect what is likely to be one of the best games in years. Damn EA!
Then I realised that this gives me more time to prepare for the game... perhaps if it's out in April 2007, the DX10 hardware will have settled a bit. :)
