Master Chief and company will be a bit behind - the Halo film won't be hitting the silver screen until 2008.

If you're looking forward to seeing Master Chief shoot stuff up on the silver screen, you might just have to wait a little longer. Microsoft announced this week that the anticipated Halo movie will be coming out in the summer of 2008, instead of 2007.

It will be led by a relative newcomer to the director's chair, Neill Blomkamp. Blomkamp is a South African with a wealth of visual effects knowledge, having worked on many previous TV shows and adverts. His TV credentials include Stargate SG-1, Smallville, and Dark Angel. Along with the TV shows, his ad work has snagged three Cleo awards.

Backing up Blomkamp will be Peter Jackson (director of Academy Award winning Lord of the Rings trilogy) and Fran Walsh as executive producers. Jackson's personal video studio, Weta Digital, will do the visual effects. The film is scheduled to be shot in New Zealand.

Hopefully this news doesn't also mean the game will be delayed, as many people expected that the anticipated sequel might debut with its movie brother.

Got a thought on the delay? Looking forward to Halo? Praying it's better than Doom? Tell us your script in the forums.
