Mod of the Month July 2011

Mod of the Month July 2011

There's been some toasty weather over here in the UK at the moment and with July behind us, things have certainly been hotting up in our forum too. We've got six fantastic new projects to show you, ranging from water-cooled car PCs to giant mods and game-themed scratch builds.

If you're new to bit-tech and modding, or haven't ventured into our forums yet, make sure you check out our Modding and Project Logs forums, as well as our Modding section, where you'll find guides and articles written by the makers of some of the best projects we've seen.

We're proud to have the legendary Mnpctech sponsoring Mod of the Month. The Mnpctech guys are regulars on our forums and, in addition to being avid modders themselves with some world-class projects to their names, the Mnpctech online store is also well worth a visit from every modder.

Mod of the Month July 2011

The winner of Mod of the Month will get one of these awesome prizes from the Mnpctech store itself. There will be some new and exciting products from Mnpctech on the horizon too, but for now feast your eyes on these pieces of true PC bling. Follow this link if you'd like to see how the Mnpctech modding ruler is made.

Mod of the Month July 2011

Prize 1 - 'Mod of the Month' Copper Edition PC Mod Ruler by Mnpctech.

This ruler is CNC-machined from 1/8in pure copper, and weighs one pound. You can see a fantastic video showing how the ruler is made.

Prize 2 - 3M Di-Noc Carbon Fiber Film

This looks and feels like real carbon fiber, and adheres to both flat and curved surfaces. You can apply this to power supplies, cases, monitors, keyboards, mice, drive faces, headphones, bezels, fan controllers, toggle switches and so on.

Mod of the Month July 2011

Prize 3 - 120mm 'Overkill' Honeycomb Fan Grille

This two-piece fan grille has an outer ring that was CNC milled from 1/2in thick 6061 aluminium. Meanwhile, its removable silver honeycomb grille insert is stamped from steel and provides ample airflow.

Thanks to Mnpctech for stumping up such fantastic prizes again this month. Last time, we had six amazing new projects going head-to-head, and each one is going to look great once it's done. Thanks to a cunning suggestion from Mod of the Year winner Attila, it was our most popular month ever, with nearly 180 of you voting - remember you can vote for multiple projects now - lots of you are wasting your votes.

The fantastic multi-purpose Disruptive by elGafas came first with The Ultimate Computer Desk by ultimatedesk in second, followed by Illuminated Mind by nagyizom.

Back to this month, we've got six of the best for you again, so don't forget to vote for your favourite. Note that you can also now vote for more than one project if you're finding it tough to choose a favourite.
