Project Log: Here
Waynio's fantastic Air Cube project made it into bit-tech's Mod of the Year competition, with its eye-catching design and the great effort that went into making it from scratch. However, he started a new project late last year, which looks set to be every bit as interesting as the last.
Early renders show a curvy tower with interesting staggered mounts for the front fans, as well as a fairly shallow case. Meanwhile, large, sectioned side-windows add some more pizazz to the equation.
A huge sheet of metal was cut into bits, while another stack of bits was made from acrylic, some of which was used to make this fan shroud.
The case itself quickly came into being, with the various bits of metal sheet coming together with hard disk caddies evident in the bottom section. The effort that's gone into making the wavy design is clear from the image on the right - a large clamp is used to hold the metal sheet in place in order to gauge the size, and was then transferred to a bending rig.
In the most recent updates, we see an actively-cooled hard disk caddie come to life, and we get the first images of some sections of the front of the case that have been bent to shape. Waynio's project log is well worth a look to see how he's getting on.
