Elements of Fortune

by tomcatt
Worklog: Here

There's certainly some enormous mods in the works this month, and tomcatt's Elements of Fortune case is no exception to this. The clue is in the name - reminiscent of his previous Helghan project, Elements of Fortune is going to based upon wheel of fortune slot machines.

That's just the surface though, which will in itself have gambler's anonymous crying out for mercy. There's plenty of interesting stuff planned for the inside too: cooling is provided by a water-cooling system comprised of what appears to be dual triple 120mm radiators combined with custom reservoirs and possibly even a customised D-Tek FuZion water block.

Some extensive Google Sketchup redering has helped tomcatt get off to a good start and we can see the desired shape. Also pictured is the desired end result - well, on the outside anyway! Lighting will be a big feature here so we look forward to seeing how tomcatt tackles this in future updates and judging by his Helghan project, it shouldn't be too much of an issue!

Tools of the trade - an angle saw is useful for a multitude of things but here it's put to good used cutting the large sections of the case that will need to fit together. We've already established that this will be a large case and presumably heavy too. To make moving the case easier, tomcatt designed some wheels into the base of Elements of Fortune, which given its ungainly shape, should make it infinitely easier to move once it's completed!

As we can see, the case is made primarily of wood with several sections already coming together. There are numerous external features that will be made of wood and acrylic, with the latter being provided by our friends at AC Ryan. For example, the braces that will support the upper level and to the decorative design will be made of metal cut to shape, sandwiching acrylic.

The beginnings of this can be seen above and tomcatt needs eighteen of these braces in all. Lastly we can see a recent render of how the 'business' section of Elements of Fortune will progress. The inside looks very interesting indeed, and we can clearly see the dual reservoirs, radiators and other components.
