Now I didn't want any loose wires floating around and also some method needed to be found to fix the top in place. So to kill two birds with one stone, magnets were used for an electrical connection as well as a method to hold the top panel in place.

I started to craft the front panel out of some 20mm Jarrah wood, however this turned out to be too thin for shaping so some more material was added.

A lifting mechanism had to be made for the front panel to allow access to the slot loader. After much thought (especially about how long this mod was taking) I settled on a very simple design. While I'm still not completely happy with it, it does the job. This is mounted to the top fan body so it can easily be removed if I decide to make a better version. I used another magnet under the nose to hold the panel shut.

And basically, that's it! Some aluminium vents were cut for the front panel, but unfortunately I took no pictures of that, and then the wood was sanded and sprayed over and over until I was satisfied with the finish. The side panel trims, top plates and front vents were all wet sanded to remove all scratches and scuffs before being polished to a shine.
