Summary by tekonivel

I decided to go with acrylic, simply because I wanted this to be cost effective and had some sheets suitable for the build lying around. Ideas for the shape became clear after some drawings around the mounting hole template.

For the bulky look i needed some massive columns, for this i simply used 10 mm thick spacers. Like this I achieved the basic look for the case. And then I added details to it. The "wooden" side tape for the acrylic edges is to prevent the led light shining outwards, and for over all appearance. The brass spacers between the black thick ones, are again for appearance. The brass legs are just some screws that i came across in the hardware store.

I wanted to engrave the name of software on the acrylic and to make the text pop up, so I added a led light inside the acrylic. The led light takes its power from the Pi's GPIO and can also be controlled by it. I am really pleased how my build looks. The wooden edge, black and brass makes really nice colour combination. Bulky looks also really nice and sleek next to my TV.
