The Side Panels

The side panels of the Cosmos are probably one of the least exciting parts of the case. Of course, that's really not all that surprising - Cooler Master is well known for its great basics and well designed internals, not for cases full of pre-modded windows and lights!

The side panel started off with some hole planning, which would make room for the vents. Paul was never really as much of a fan of boring old windows when a little automotive "extra" could be applied.

With the vent fitted, it was time to send the panel to get a powder coating that would create a "base layer" of colour. The vent would then be affixed to the panel using some adhesive at first...

...and then some bondo. Once wet-sanded down to a smooth, satin-like finish (now you see why the powder coating...), it was time to move on.

The final step to the side panels was a paint job. By using a black base with the powder coating, the sides came together easily and Paul was able to shine them up to a mirror finish. It's more expensive and a bit of a pain, but if you need a method that will give you a reliable, true colour, this is it.
