Micke's DreamHack Modding Mania

Hey guys! Once again, DreamHack Winter has rolled around, and this year's event promises to be bigger and better than ever.

I'm going to be at DreamHack showing off some of the mods that I have done over the last few months. I'm also going to be doing more engraving live on the show floor, so if you want anything done - whether it's a clan nickname or a motif on your MP3 player's casing, then come by and I will do my best to help you out.

DreamHack is the world's largest LAN party. It takes place in the city of Jönköping at the Elmia show ground. This time the attendance is expected to hit almost 10,000 avid gamers - last winter there were over 7,500. There is still time left to grab your ticket - head over to the DreamHack website now.

This is the fourth time I've been to the event and I still look forward to it every time - the gaming, the super-clocked hardware and, of course, the modding. Sweet!

Over the next few pages I'll be showing some of the mods that I'm taking to DreamHack that I've made. Feel free to drop by and take a closer look!

Miami Heat

I made a case for a friend at Point of View graphics last time around, but it got damaged in transit and I promised to come back with a bigger, better, 'Hotter' case.

I used an Aspire case from Colorcase.se along with a good amount of airbrushing.

Apart from the airbrushing, the case is fairly standard, so not much to add here.

Skull case

This is a really simple airbrush case mod that has been sponsored by the guys at Gtek. There's a small story behind this one - my 10 year old son (who I created the Spiderman case mod for) decided he didn't want it when he was done! When I was modding for DreamHack, he told me that he wanted another modded case, and I told him that he could paint his own case this time around!

When I got back home one day, I found one of my cases unpacked and stood in my painting area. My son was sat there with my airbrush in hand. I was both horrified and proud, and I decided to help him finish it up. This is the final result (you can check out the full worklog here).
