Sleepstreamer has recently shot to modding fame with his first mod, Cold Fusion. After the massive critical acclaim of that mod, he's started work on his second creation, dubbed Hangar 101.

This mod is designed to resemble a space-age structure, and is made out of metal tubing and acrylic. Work is already well underway, and its already looking pretty spectacular.

Creating the drive cages is a matter of cutting up some acrylic and cementing the edges together. A mixture of bright orange and smoked black will create a pretty distinctive styling.

The frame is made from 20x10mm tubing. The bars are welded together, with all the hard work being done by our modder without any outsourcing! Assembling the plastic inside the metal frame, you can see how this mod starts to come together.

Added in to the mix goes some metal detailing - in this case, a side air intake vent. Layers of acrylic mashed in with metal grille material lead to some pretty interesting looks.

Cutting some aluminium from a sheet leads to a fascia for the slot-loading DVD drive. Some elbow-grease gives a brushed aluminium effect, and we can already see the layering effect of the acyrlic and metal that gives the mod a really fantastic quality.

There's clearly still a lot of awesome modding to be done here. Keep an eye on the worklog for some updates.
