System Installation
Here is the specification of the major components I am installing inside the churn:
- AMD Athlon XP 2600+ processor
- 512MB DDR400 memory
- Epox EP-8RDA3+ motherboard
- Geforce 4 Ti4200 graphics card
- Seagate Barracuda 160GB hard drive
- LG DVD burner
- Nexus 300W PSU
There will also be an array of lighting: LEDs mounted underneath for the 'alien' glow effect; white and UV LEDs inside the case to light certain component; cold cathode lighting, and also some LEDs to light the 120mm fan I plan to mount in the lid.
Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of this stage of the build - there was a huge last-minute rush to get the case completed the night before Assembly 2005. In the end, I only got 2 hours of sleep, and got the case finished just half an hour before jumping on a train!
Here are some photos of the case at Assembly, showing off the internal lighting. All this lighting required me to design and build a control panel for all the switches - this was a lot of the work that I hurried to complete, and sadly don't have any photos of the construction.
Here is the final product. The Power and DVD buttons are self-evident, but let me translate the others for you:

Pohja = Bottom to switch the LEDs underneath the case, which I didn't have time to install before the competition.

Katodi = Cathode the cold cathode lighting, again, not yet installed.

Sisaledit V = white LED bright white LED lighting inside.

Sisaledit UV = UV LED Ultraviolet LED lighting inside; certain motherboard components have UV paint.

Kansi = Cap will switch on some LEDs lighting the cap fan when i install it.

Paneelit = Panel activated the LED lighting on the control panel, and the DVD drive door.
As you can see, there were many things that I didn't get done before Assembly, but I hope to finish them off soon. For example, I ordered some UV-reactive IDE cables, but they didn't arrive in time. The cow looks pretty cool under UV light as well.
