Meet The Modder
Name: Lassi Niemistö
Nickname: Nev@Lehmä
Country: Finland
Age: 17
Occupation: Upper secondary student, works as webdesigner
Project Name: The Tonkputer
Build time: approx 150 hours over 7 months
Materials used: aluminium milk churn, aluminium plates, perspex, cow-like cloth
bit-tech: How long have you been involved in modding? Have you made any cases before this one?
Nev@Lehmä: I started modding in 2002, but I have never modded a ready-made case. I have made another case, "LaZerWood", before building The Tonkputer. It is made of real wood and I won the second prize in the Coolest Case of Assembly 2004 with it.
bit-tech: What inspired you to make this particular case?
Nev@Lehmä: I wanted to create something very original and the milk churn fitted to my nickname - "SwampCow" in English - as well as possible.
bit-tech: What plans do you have for the future?
Nev@Lehmä: I'll mod a TFT, mouse and keyboard to fit to the Tonkputer style - polished aluminium and cow-print. I'm also planning of an automatic 3D-photographing machine. I have too many ideas and not enough time to execute them all.
bit-tech: What other interests do you have except modding?
Nev@Lehmä: I am a music addict and also play synth myself. I sit a lot by my computer, but playing games is not important to me. I have built, fixed and broken devices as long as I can remember but these days a girl named Selina takes a big amount of time from my hobbies :)
bit-tech: We see that your modding habit extends to your haircut. What's the story with that?
Nev@Lehmä: Selina's Mum is a hairdresser, so I like to have fun. It lasts 3-5 days when I have it shaved like this. I have had the mohawk for about 15 months now. The symbol is from the band
Rammstein.
bit-tech: Sure - the German band in the opening sequence for xXx. Big spikey hair and even bigger flames. So you're a fan then?
Nev@Lehmä: I have been a Rammstein fan for 3 years now, but I'm not much of a fan compared with my little sister.
bit-tech: Does she have the same haircut?
Nev@Lehmä: [laughs] No. But she is a much bigger fan of theirs than I am.
bit-tech: Finally, what is your favourite Case Mod / Modder of all time?
Nev@Lehma: Of course the
Orac3 - it is something sooooo perfect..
And now onto a final eye-candy gallery...
