Value and Conclusion

In the right conditions the Corsair H50 is a great performing product. It not only actually makes low cost liquid cooling functional and reliable, it's also a similar price to many high-end air coolers at £56. That's a killer combination.

But, be very aware, as we saw in the results, some chassis just don't work favourably with this kind of cooler. Without positive pressure or other ways to circulate the air around inside of the case, the heat builds up and isn't removed from the case.

The Corsair is a very basic liquid cooling device: it doesn't feature an alarm to warn users if the pump fails for example. However, again we must stress that nor did the £200 Swiftech watercooling kit or any other air cooling heatsink we've reviewed recently. We can sure as hell bet that if the fan on your heatsink fails your CPU will overheat and shutdown/cook in exactly the same way.

In comparison, the direct alternative, the CoolIT Domino ALC is upwards of £70 and in the same system the Corsair clearly performs better while producing less noise.

The bottom line is that we recognise Corsair H50 has successfully done the impossible and made a working low cost liquid cooler that is affordable, reliable and performs very well in the right environment.
