Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000 80mm

UK price (as reviewed): £5.95 (inc VAT)

Sharkoon’s Silent Eagle range of fans hasn’t changed in years, and the Silent Eagle 1000 still has the golf-ball textured blades, which Sharkoon claims reduce turbulence and noise while enhancing airflow.

The Silent Eagle 1000 is rated at 8.9dBA but we measured its noise to be 19.3dBA, although this was so close to the ambient background noise in the room that we can safely say the Silent Eagle 1000 is as close to silent as you’ll find.

However, airflow-wise, a laughable 6cfm is all you’re likely to see of the rated 11.3cfm, so the Silent Eagle 1000 is useless for large cases, hot CPUs or high-end systems.

In contrast to the Silent Eagle 1000 (above), which barely shifted any air, with twice the rpm, the Silent Eagle 2000 should stand more chance of being able to do its job and cool your PC or CPU cooler.

We measured the airflow at 17cfm; while this is lower than Sharkoon’s claim of 22.7cfm, it’s still in a different league to its 1,000rpm sibling. In terms of noise, we recorded 29.5dBA while Sharkoon states 17.8dBA.

This Silent Eagle 2000 is one of the better 80mm fans, but the Scythe Kama-Flex SA0825FDB12L shifts nearly twice as much air at the same noise level.
