Computex 2016 - G.Skill

G.Skill dedicated much of its stand showing off what it's achieved in DDR4. For example, it had 4,500MHz DIMMs, its fastest yet, and 3,200MHz with CL13 timings in a system fully loaded with 64GB modules. It had a variety of 128GB systems running too with various speeds and timings. As for SODIMM modules, G.Skill showed us an Intel NUC with a massive 32GB of DRAM – more as a proof of what's been achieved than for any practical reason. Many of the modules on show were prototypes without an ETA for retail since it depends on when Samsung is able to hit mass production with its ICs. At the time of viewing the booth, Intel's Broadwell-E CPUs had not launched, but the systems you see are running those CPUs.

G.Skill entered the peripherals market last year, and this year it's looking to expand upon that. First up is the KM770 RGB, a smaller and simplified version of the KM780 RGB we saw last year. The top row of extra keys are now have programmable RGB lighting – it was single colour before. G.Skill has also added cable management channels to the bottom. Pricing is going to be around $150 (ex tax) with an August launch date planned.

Also there was the KM570 MX, designed as an entry level model of the family – it will have a $99 MSRP or so with a September release the current plan. It moves away from using software to program it, but it still has lots of customisation through onboard keys like on-the-fly macro recording for nearly all keys and per-key backlighting.
