Test Setup

As the Deepcool Gamer Storm New Ark 90 is essentially a complete CPU cooling system and not just a case, we've made use of our AMD AM4 CPU cooler test gear to give it a workout, rather than remove the cooler from our CPU cooler test gear, which could alter its performance and render future cooler results incomparable. However, we should stress that the results here aren't directly comparable either as we use a different case with our CPU cooler gear, but they give a good indication of how well the Deepcool Gamer Storm New Ark 90 as a whole performs compared to the other coolers, which are mounted in a well-ventilated Corsair Graphite 730T.

We've pinched the Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 3GB out of our case test gear, though, so we can get a good idea of how well the case performs with GPU cooling, although again these results aren't directly comparable with other cases as we use a different cooler and CPU with our ATX case test gear.

The graphics card fan is locked at 70 percent speed using MSI Afterburner, but we allow the CPU cooler fans to run at 100 per cent. The system is loaded using Prime95 25.11 and Unigine's Heaven 4.0 benchmark. We use Core Temp and GPU-Z to monitor the temperatures, taking the maximum values after 15 minutes - enough time for the readings to plateau. To account for inconsistencies in the ambient temperature at the time of testing, we report the delta T values for both components i.e. the measured temperature minus the recorded room temperature during testing.
