The Hummer PC Lighting the keyboard
When you want to light a keyboard, there are easy ways to do it. I wanted to try something different, however, when I noticed that this keyboard had translucent keys. There was enough room for some good lights, and all I had to do was tear it down and drill four small holes around every stand for the keys (not much fun!)

My idea was to use three cold cathode fan lights to light up the keys as well as under the keyboard. Because this will be powered by batteries it will not be as bright as it would be if it were in a case but I figured it would be okay.

The transformers for the lights will mount under the keys and in between two of the lights. I had to cut the stand-offs a little for room. Everything fits under now, no problems here!

The switch and the power cord for the lights are all mounted. Now to get some lights and power going to it to see how it will work.

While I was at it I realised that I would have to make new backing plates for the keys. The ones it came with were solid plastic and would not work for what I had in mind. I made my panels out of clear plexi.

Here you see the new backing plates installed and ready to go. Now the light from the cathodes will be able to shine through really well as well as help spread it out a bit.

The cathodes and transformers are all mounted in this pic. I decided to change back to the covered transformers, because I was worried about the possibility of something shorting out. Which is never good.

They work! My camera seems to have some trouble picking up light, but trust me when I say they all shine evenly
