Sony has announced that it is currently developing an external battery pack to improve the battery life of the PlayStation Vita handheld.

Full specifications for the PS Vita were revealed at the Tokyo Game Show earlier this week, revealing just a three to five hour battery life for the vanilla Vita.

The announcement of an external battery pack comes from Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony's Worldwide Studios, who gave IGN the news at the Tokyo Game Show.

No specifics about the battery pack, such as cost or how much it'll lengthen the battery life by, have been confirmed by Sony yet.

'If you're flying from New York to San Francisco or vice versa, you'll have no concerns [about running out of power] if you have the additional external battery,' was all Yoshida would say.
