The Fans

While all this RGB malarkey of late can be a little in your face, the ability to match your fan LED colour to your coolant or case theme is pretty neat, although Corsair's latest RGB fans can do even more than that with lighting effects on offer too. We'll be seeing how it goes as to whether we'll be using the HD120 or SP120 versions - we're maybe leaning towards the latter as they're a little more subtle like the system as a whole. We shall see.

The RGB function is set by a controller that's included in select single fan and triple packs of the SP and HD RGB series fans. As well as funky lighting, the SP and HD series' predecessor is the standard SP120, which is well regarded as offering decent static pressure and a good choice for use with radiators.

The Reservoir and Pump
The choice of reservoirs is fantastic at the moment and, in particular, we love models such as Alphacool's Eisbrecher that can not only connect straight to a pump, holding the combo aloft to save space and keeping things simple, but can also be mounted very easily. Specifically, the Alphacool Eisbecher D5 150mm we're using here sports two mounting arms that can be used to screw the device to fan mounts or grilles in the front of your case - no drilling or modding required - although ideally you need to mount it vertically to allow you to fill the reservoir without tipping the PC on its side.

A standard D5 pump can be inserted into the base although there are also options for DDC and Phobya pumps to be used too. We've also opted for Alphacool's new VPP755 D5-based pump, which sports the familiar speed dial on the base and attaches straight to the Eisbecher D5 150mm reservoir.
