Corsair 460x Build for BoMenzzz: Part One

After the success of the Nanoxia Project S watercooling article, we decided that we should do some more builds. Sometimes the builds will be completely crazy and other times they will be a bit more subdued. The main idea is to do what you guys are doing and to give you a platform to ask questions, get answers and see how we do things here.

Corsair has recently partnered with Twitch streamer BoMenzzz, her channel can be found Here. She has started to gain popularity in the last year or so and attends events such as Insomnia. This means she may need to take her system with her and it is a little bit of a mess inside. Corsair knew just what to do and decided to ensure that she could have a PC build to show off, so the company passed us some gear and we are going to have a play around with it.

So, this is where we start, the original build; the non-branded case of Plasticky Doom. We will be honest, it isn't the worst case we have seen, but it is a bit flimsy and cheap-feeling, but looks-wise it could be a lot worse. Luckily the window is tinted so you can't see inside.

Oh, wait, I took a picture of the inside, too... BoMenzzz, what have you been doing?! I would say ''just look at that cable management'', but there is none! Obviously, I jest, there isn't much room inside the case and with the huge Noctua cooler planted in the middle, there isn't really that much you can do. This is where we can make a huge difference; instead of the huge cooler, let's swap it out for a custom loop!

Out of the original build, we are going to be keeping hold of the motherboard, processor, RAM, GPU and HDD, and there is also an SSD and Elgato capture card that we forgot to add into the picture for reasons which will become apparent later. Although the components are not the latest and greatest, they are perfectly fine for gaming and streaming. We have an Intel Core i7-4790K paired with an ASUS Z97-Pro Gamer, while the GPU is an MSI GeForce GTX 980 and there is, of course, 32GB of Corsair Vengeance Pro RAM.

Corsair and Alphacool have joined us with this build, ensuring that we have everything we need to make something pretty. BoMenzzz had one request: white and pink. With this in mind, Corsair sent us the 460X RGB chassis (which is black), an RM 750x PSU (which is black), and some new RGB fans (yay! something that can be turned to pink!). Alphacool has provided all of the liquid-cooling goodies we will need and we have some pink fluid on the way from Mayhems.

Let's look at all this gear properly and go through why we chose it.
