Overclocking

We once again made use of EVGA's Precison overclocking tool to endeavour to squeeze some extra performance from the GTX 670 2GB, and it responded in some style. Increasing the power threshold to 120%, we upped the base clock from 915MHz to 1040MHz, boosting up to 1,210MHz, a result nearly identical to our overclocking experience with the GTX 680 2GB.

We also increased the card's memory frequency, from 1.5GHz (6GHz effective) to 1.7GHz (6.8GHz effective). Having found this overclock to be perfectly stable (albeit with a slight but noticeable increase in fan noise) we found the GTX 670 2GB was able to match the stock performance of the GTX 680 2GB in Battlefield 3, with a minimum frame rate of 64fps at 1,920 x 1,080 with 4x AA and 37fps at 2,560 x 1,600 with 4x AA. Not too bad for a card that's set to go on sale for £100 less than its more illustrious sibling.
