ASUS EN7950GX2

Core Speed: 500MHz
Memory Speed: 1200MHz
Warranty: 3 years limited (parts and labour)
Price: £397.73 inc VAT - Scan.co.uk

The ASUS GeForce 7950 GX2 comes in the largest box in the round-up and has a reasonable bundle of included extras to allow you to get the most out of your new video card purchase. The box has a bunch of logos on it, giving you the low down on the card's features.

However, there appears to be one or two logo's missing - there is no PureVideo HD logo, and there is no mention of HDCP support on the front, either. Worry not though, as the card is fully HDCP compliant.

There are two games included: Peter Jackson's King Kong, and Project: Snowblind. Interestingly, there is no multi-GPU profile for Project: Snowblind. Having said that though, the game is playable at 1600x1200 with 8xSLI AA enabled on a pair of 7900 GT's, so it will be no problem for this video card.

Along with the couple of games included, there is a utility disk, a hard-copy manual and a leather CD wallet. On the cables and connectors front, ASUS has included a pair of VGA-to-DVI converters, a HDTV-to-YPbPr Component cable and a 6-pin PCI-Express power adapter to round off the bundle. The card is well-packed inside a padded foam enclosure to ensure that the card arrives in one piece.

ASUS hasn't physically changed anything on the NVIDIA reference GeForce 7950 GX2 design - the only difference between the two is the inclusion of an ASUS sticker on the centre of the fan. The main art work on the cooler is exactly the same as the reference design - this may change over the coming weeks if ASUS was unable to get its own art work completed in time for the launch day. This means that the card is as quiet as the NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 reference design.

Warranty: ASUS offers a three year limited warranty covering parts and labour with all of its video card range. In order to repair the card, you have to contact your reseller. You could say the card is warranted for a reasonable lifetime of the product, but it is not a true lifetime warranty. The point of contact for support is the place where you purchased the video card in the first year. After that, you should contact ASUS if you're having problems with your purchase.
