Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Benchmarked - 1440p

This resolution, known also as QHD (Quad HD), is popular among enthusiasts. It is the traditional step up from 1080p, giving users a significant upgrade in pixel count and sharpness without being as demanding as 4K.

Given how demanding 1080p already is, 1440p was never going to be easy - when you move the resolution beyond 1080p, the game itself warns that any card with less than 4GB of memory will be sub-par. The new Titan X and the GTX 1080 put in strong performances, and the GTX 1070 is also solid with its 30fps minimum though remember that is with an overclocked version. AMD's absence at the high-end of the market is made clear by this test; it doesn't have a single card in its arsenal capable of consistent >30fps gameplay.

Dropping to 'Very High' does net some decent performance improvements across the board, but it's still only the very high-end products capable of delivering a smooth experience. Cards often considered suitable for 1440p play like the GTX 1060, GTX 970 and RX 480 cards all have sub-30fps minimums, unfortunately, although AMD's Polaris cards again put in a good showing relative to their position in the market.

At 1440p with 'High' settings, we finally have a card capable of sustained 60fps or higher gameplay, and it's of course the GTX Titan X. A number of mid-range cards come close to hitting the 30fps target, but only the RX 480 8GB (an overclocked, custom-cooled one) actually manages to hit it. Note also that in these 1440p tests the R9 Fury and R9 Fury X aren't as clustered with the lower end AMD parts, as these are cards that flex their muscles more as the resolution increases.

The 'Medum' preset doesn't change much in terms of rankings, but you do get a few more cards entering into the 30fps or more category. Included here are the GTX 1060 and RX 470, but sadly the venerable GTX 970 just misses the mark, although a more heavily overclocked version would manage well enough.
