Bits and Bobs

Another first for this water cooling solution (that I’m aware of) is the cooling fan. This fan does not mount on the radiator, it mounts to the water block. The idea is not to provide additional cooling for the cpu but for the MOSFETS that are usually located in close proximity to the cpu. This seems strange since one of the main goals of water cooling is to remove as many noise producing fans from your system as possible but the idea does hold merit. Upon removing the traditional air driven traditional heatsink cooling from your cpu, you are also removing the cooling the MOSFETS were benefitting from second hand. They can generate large amounts of heat and have been known to fail without sufficient cooling. This is a variation of the same fan we saw on our review of Gigabyte’s G-Power BL heatsink which was silent enough to earn one of our awards.

In the spirit of providing everything you need for liquid cooling, Gigabyte even includes... the liquid. The coolant has a blue UV reactive dye to further carry the overwhelming blue theme established by everything else.

Supporting Parts

I won’t go into on ad-nauseum at every little part included but needless to say, Gigabyte includes all the hardware to install the block to pretty much every major cpu socket-type under the sun (Intel 478/775 and AMD 754/939 to name a few). The remaining supporting parts include the PCI plate which includes a fan controlling pot as well as holes for routing the cooling tubing and the radiator fan wiring to the inside of your case. They also include just enough of these squeeze clamps which are easy to use and require no tools. I admit to being a bit doubtful of these clamps, but once the tubing was installed onto the connections and these clamps were applied, they did an excellent job of creating a tight seal. Remember, we want no leaks.

Another component is the Smart Fan Speed Controller which regulates the radiator’s fan speed depending on ambient case temperature insuring that the fan is running as low as needed. Gigabyte also included the tubing. They provide approx 1.5 meters of .5” tubing, more than enough for installation of the kit.
