And BAM! The 1,600MHz Corsair Dominator sets a huge score. 50 percent extra free (on read and write)? Yes please. Well not "free" considering you still have to buy expensive 1,600MHz DIMMs over generic 1,066MHz ones that we used with the original Core i7 performance article. The latency is also shaved by a few nanoseconds too.

Does the extra bandwidth make that much difference in application performance though? Since the original bandwidth for the Core i7 was already largely in excess of Intel's previous platform, and made a lesser difference than the percentage jump in raw bandwidth, there's a note of caution not to get too excited. However, with the huge jump in clock speed will benefit instruction throughput performance at the native level - perhaps the combination of both will give this overclocked i7 920 the boost it needs in gaming and make it an undeniable champ in multi-threaded applications.
