Computex 2015 - MSI

The first thing we saw from MSI was its GT72 2QE Dominator Pro Tobii EyeX gaming notebook, which is the first of its kind to feature Tobii Eye X eye tracking technology., which is supported in the latest Assassin's Creed and will be built into more games to come as a additional means of control. The notebook uses a 17.3in 1080p screen, and comes with an 5th gen Intel Core processor, an Nvidia GTX 980M and four M.2 SSDs in RAID0 (MSI's Super RAID 3 solution). A 1TB, 7,200 RPM HDD is also included for additional storage.

MSI also had its first G-Sync notebook on display, the GT72 G, featuing a GTX 970M or GTX 980M and a 17in 1080p panel.

For motherboards, MSI, is launching one new AMD board this year, the 990FXA Gaming, which is for users of AM3 and AM3+ CPUs. It includes support for both USB 3.1 and NVMe, allowing AMD users to take advantage of new technologies in spite of their aging chipset.

As for Intel, we first saw the Z97 Gaming 6, which is NVMe compatible – MSI will be supplying its own driver to help speed things up compared to the standard Windows one. It's also equipped with a Type-C USB 3.1 port on the rear I/O panel and Killer Networking.

Like most other major motherboard players, MSI had next generation Intel products on display, including the Z170A-G45 Gaming. This comes with dual M.2 32Gbps slots, Audio Boost 3, USB 3.1 and SATA Express.

The last motherboard of note was the X99A Godlike Gaming, designed for high-end users. It includes RGB LEDs that can be controlled using software or a mobile application. It also makes use of reinforced PCI-E slots, Killer WiFi and Killer DoubleShot-X3 PRO networking. The enhanced audio solution inclues a 6.3mm audio hi-fi jack output and is known as Audio Boost 3 Pro. Also available for the board is a custom-made Bitspower waterblock for custom liquid-cooling.

Lastly, we saw MSI's GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6G, which uses the Twin Frozr V cooler – the same as used successfully in the company's GTX 970 4G – and a selection of its new, dragon-branded SLI bridges.
