Harbingers Rampage

By llH4VOKll
Worklog: Here

llH4VOKll started Harbingers Rampage last summer but the difficulty in getting a high end water-cooled PC into a small form factor case meant things haven't gone quickly. After spending a while deciding on the various components to be used, llH4VOKll found that the 80mm radiator wasn't up to the task with initial temperatures much higher than in his main air cooled system.

With this and other problems rearing their heads, llH4VOKll has redesigned the internals several times opting for larger and larger radiators and smaller pumps. In the end it required a new case too, but in recent weeks llH4VOKll looks like he's firmly on track to get Harbingers Rampage finished.

The Silverstone SG02 was the first case of choice and llH4VOKll spent a long while modding it to fit all the cooling and hardware inside. Above we can see the stripped out case and for those who've owned a Laing D5 pump, seeing it sitting there in the SG02 gives an idea of just how small a case it is and indeed what llH4VOKll is up against.

There's nearly a full water cooling system in now with a Swiftech Micro Res installed as well as a single 80mm radiator that turned out to be too small to dissipate enough heat on its own. On the right is an image from a recent update this year with a new case - a Fragbox 2 which appears to have a bit more room to play with and llH4VOKll is now using a double 80mm radiator along with Dangerden's DD-CPX-Pro pump.

Yet another step up and the radiator has increased in size again this time to a much more substantial dual 120mm radiator located in the side panel. llH4VOKll much be feeling fairly confident with this setup as he's even got a water-cooled GTX 260 in there. The case still needs a lot of hardware to be installed but already it's getting very crowded. The joys of working with SFF cases!

We can't fault llH4VOKll for lack of perseverance which is one of the reasons Harbingers Rampage is here in MOTM. Above we can see a custom made fan grill to mount that radiator along with a nice three quarter view of the new case. If you visit the project log we dare say everything's changed again but one final addition we spotted is an Asus Rampage II Gene motherboard so clearly llH4VOKll means business this time!

If SFF PCs are your thing and you'd like to vote for Harbingers Rampage, head over to this thread.
