Project: Invaded

There’s a definite trend for scratch built cases this month but Project Invaded also boasts a worthy cause as it’s being built for charity. First up though: if any water-cooling suppliers out there fancy sponsoring sethnmalice and Slamaa’s new creation please get in touch with us, as their current deal has apparently fallen through.

The Mod is a tribute to the classic game Space Invaders, and there's definitely some otherworldly design on show here. Featuring a Mountain Mods-esque layout and shape, Project Invaded is a large cube case mod that looks like it could become a stunning case, with polished metal surfaces and the promise of water-cooling too. It's still in its early stages but it’s definitely one we’ll be keeping an eye on!

The case is off to a great start otherwise though, with the frame securely fixed together following a lengthy and varied design phase. Slamaa and sethnmalice clearly had plenty of ideas when it came to the design, and we’re still not sure what the final mod will look like. Still, we do know it will feature Space Invaders that many of the initial designs and renders hint at.

The frame has quickly taken form and appears to be quite large; it looks very sturdy too so when the water-cooling gear arrives, we’re fairly sure it should be able to cope with the extra weight. To add a bit of bling, the frame has been lightly sanded with various grades of fine sandpaper and then polished. Outside in the sunshine, the effect looks great.

As with all scratch built cases, Project Invaded needed custom-built side panels. Here we can see the I/O panel, PSU and several 120mm fan hole cut outs. Several panels will feature logos of the various sponsors and the panel featured here shows the Project Invaded logo complete with little Space Invaders. The panel was sanded and polished just like the frame.

Here we can see fan grills featuring logos for the various sponsors, including Mnpctech and GM Mods. Again the metal has been polished and the red acrylic looks very good indeed.

Finally, the case is now taking on real form and we can see many of the panels now fixed together, including the Project Invaders panel. There’s clearly plenty of potential for a awesome water-cooled PC here too - there's masses of room for several large radiators.
