Cable System

I've always had a little 'thing' for nifty and innovative cable systems, and I wanted to make my own from the start of this project. I wanted to create something clever that would free me from the burden of hiding cables all the way from the PSU to the connectors.

I decided to make a wall that would act as a bridge between the PSU compartment and the actual components. The idea was to have all the plugs in the top along with the PSU, and then have the respective wires running down and elegantly coming out where they were needed. The idea was great, but I was clueless about all the issues this would cause. I thought I would be able to hide all the wires in a space no higher than 5mm. This was the start of a million problems.

After putting in the cables to see how they would fit, it was clear that I had to do some serious thinking about how I laid out the cables, as they simply wouldn't fit if they overlapped too many times. After doing this, the soldering could begin.

If anything can make you dizzy, it's sitting next to a soldering iron with poor ventilation for four hours straight - it's not recommended. In the end, however, it paid off and the cables could be laid somewhat flat and tidily. That was 24 down, and only a million left to go.
